In a historic move to diversify football activities in the region, the Kwale FKF Branch officially launched the county’s first-ever Beach Soccer tournament at the stunning Kongo Beach, Diani. The launch event doubled as an exhibition, offering a unique platform for the 16 participating male and female teams to learn the rules and regulations of beach soccer—a sport still new to the Kwale football scene.

The vibrant event attracted enthusiastic players and spectators, marking the beginning of what is expected to be a thrilling chapter for football in Kwale. The exhibition focused on educating teams about the format, gameplay, and standards of beach soccer to ensure fair and competitive participation once the tournament kicks off.
Gracing the occasion was Kwale County Sports County Executive Committee Member, Fransisca Kilonzo, who expressed her support for the initiative and pledged the County Government’s commitment to working closely with the Kwale FKF office to nurture and promote soccer talent in the region.
“I believe in the power of sports to change lives, and initiatives like this are exactly what we need to unlock the potential of our youth,” she said.

Kwale FKF Branch Chairman Hamisi Mwakoja echoed the importance of tapping into the county’s natural resources to promote the sport.
“We are blessed with some of the most beautiful beaches in Africa—voted the best seven times in a row—and it’s time we used that gift to grow something special. Beach soccer has the potential to become one of the most loved sports in Kwale. Today’s exhibition showed us just how much raw talent we have, and we’re committed to nurturing it and giving our youth a new platform to shine,” said Mwakoja.
Adding to the excitement, Kwale FKF Branch CEO Shaban Mwero announced that the official tournament fixtures will be released this week, with the competition itself scheduled to begin within the next two weeks at the same Kongo Beach venue.
