Kenyan football fans have been urged to turn up in large numbers at the Ulinzi Sports Complex on Friday, 21st February 2025, as the Harambee Starlets take on Tunisia in a crucial Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 qualifier.

Harambee Starlets and Kansas City Current forward Mwanalima Adam Jereko has issued a rallying call to supporters, emphasizing the importance of their presence in pushing the team towards qualification.

“I am grateful for another opportunity to fight for a spot at WAFCON. The big day is almost here (21st February 2025), and we need you, our fans, to come out in large numbers at the Ulinzi Sports Complex to cheer us on as we battle Tunisia. Your support will be our driving force in securing victory for the country,” Mwanalima stated.

This came after their heroic triumph over Cameroon, eliminating the giants 4-3 on post-match penalties following a 1-1 aggregate score.

The road to the 2026 WAFCON in Morocco requires the Starlets to navigate two qualification rounds. A victory over Tunisia will set up a final showdown against the winner between Niger and Gambia, with the ultimate prize being a spot in the prestigious continental tournament scheduled for March 2026.

Currently ranked 149th in the FIFA Women’s rankings, Kenya faces a formidable opponent in Tunisia, who sit at 78th. Tunisia’s last official match was a 1-0 victory over Botswana in a FIFA Window friendly on 15th July 2024. Meanwhile, Kenya’s most recent official match showcased their attacking prowess, securing a dominant 4-1 win over the highly ranked Philippines during the Pink Ladies’ tournament in Turkey on 30th October 2024.
