The FKF Women’s Premier League title race has taken a new twist after Ulinzi Starlets were awarded full points from their 2-2 draw against Zetech Sparks following a successful appeal. The appeal centered on the ineligibility of Zetech Sparks’ player Bertha Omita, who was fielded before her transfer from Kenya Police Bullets had been finalized.
In a statement released by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Communications Department, the FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee confirmed that Zetech Sparks violated player registration rules during Match No. 86, which was played on March 8, 2025, at the Ruaraka Grounds. The committee established that Bertha Omita’s transfer had not been completed prior to the match and that Zetech Sparks failed to present her FKF license for verification.
The referee’s report indicated Omita’s inclusion on the matchday team sheet, but no license number was recorded — a clear breach of FKF Regulation Article 3.8.3, which deems players without presented licenses ineligible to participate in FKF competitions.
The League and Competitions Committee ruled that Zetech Sparks had violated Article 3.8.1 by fielding an unlicensed player. In line with Article 3.8.4 of the FKF regulations, Zetech Sparks have forfeited the match, and the result has been overturned in favor of Ulinzi Starlets.
As a result of the decision, Ulinzi Starlets are now just two points behind leaders Kenya Police Bullets heading into the season finale set for Saturday, 25th May 2025. All matches on the final day are scheduled to kick off simultaneously at 1 PM EAT.

Kenya Police Bullets will travel to Afraha Stadium in Nakuru to face Trinity Starlets, while Ulinzi Starlets will host Kisumu All Starlets at the Ulinzi Sports Complex. Both title contenders have lost just once this season, but Police Bullets hold a slight edge, having recorded more wins, while Ulinzi have drawn one more match.
The title decider promises high drama, with the pressure now firmly on the league leaders to secure a win on the final day to keep Ulinzi at bay.
