The Kentaste FKF Kwale Beach Soccer League officially kicked off on 3rd May at the scenic Kongo Beach in Diani, marking the beginning of a vibrant three-month tournament. While the league itself was launched earlier, this was the first day of action on the sand, drawing a lively crowd and showcasing local beach soccer talent.
The tournament has gained a significant boost from its sponsor, Kentaste—a coconut product company rooted in the region. Their involvement has helped provide essential gear and operational support for the league.
In an interview with Kwale FKF Branch Chairman Hamisi Mwakoja, he shared the impact of the sponsorship:
“Kentaste has really helped us with key items like match balls, branded corner flags, goalposts, and bibs which act as jerseys,” he said. “They are also covering referee fees, which is a huge support. This partnership is not just about football—it’s about improving the local economy and giving youth opportunities to be scouted for the national beach soccer team. As a branch, we’re working hard to uplift all types of sport in Kwale.”
Kentaste Marketing Manager Terrie Nduhiu, speaking during our interview, highlighted the company’s motivation:
“At Kentaste, we have a heart for sports,” she said. “This year, we’re focused on meaningful partnerships, and when the chance to sponsor FKF Kwale Beach Soccer came up, we embraced it. We’re a local company, most of us are from Kwale, and we believe in supporting the youth. Even within Kentaste, most of our employees are young people.”
Looking ahead, Mwakoja announced that the official launch ceremony of the partnership will take place on 10th May, with FKF President Hussein Mohammed set to attend as the Guest of Honor. The event will also feature other national FKF officials and local leaders, emphasizing the importance of the initiative for both sport and community development.
With such high-level support and growing enthusiasm on the ground, the Kentaste FKF Kwale Beach Soccer League is poised to make a lasting impact on the region’s sporting landscape.
