With only five rounds left in the FKF Division One Zone A League, the race for promotion to the National Super League (NSL) is intensifying — and it’s far from over. A total of seven teams are still in the running for a shot at glory, as the battle for the top two spots gets tighter with every matchday.

As the rules stand, the team that finishes first earns a direct promotion, while the second-placed team heads into a high-stakes playoff against the runner-up from Zone B.

At the top of the table, Kabati Youth have been the standout performers, sitting pretty with 51 points from 25 games. They only need three wins out of their remaining five matches to seal their place in next season’s NSL — and crucially, one of those must come against Kibera Soccer, who are chasing closely behind.

Kibera Soccer, currently in second place with 42 points from 24 games, have an extra match to play and know that every point counts. Their upcoming clash with Zetech Titans could determine not only who finishes top, but also whether they avoid the risky playoff route.

Bumbani Stars, the surprise package and newcomers this season, are tied with Kibera at 42 points, but from 25 games. With only five matches left, they’ll need to be near-perfect and hope their rivals drop points.

Spitfire FC and Kenya Navy are both on 39 points, but Kenya Navy have a game in hand, making their six remaining fixtures crucial. A strong run could push them into the top two conversation.
