Kakamega Homeboyz striker Moses Shumah took another step in the FKF Premier League Golden Boot race after netting his 13th goal of the season in a 2-2 draw against KCB. The Harambee Stars forward, who had gone two matches without scoring, reignited his form in today’s thrilling encounter, keeping his hopes of clinching the top scorer’s award alive.
Shumah now trails current leading scorer Ryan Ogam by just two goals. Ogam, who has 15 goals to his name, has been absent from his club’s recent matchday squads due to a reported conflict with his team. His absence presents an opportunity for Shumah and other contenders to close the gap as the season nears its final stretch.
The Kakamega Homeboyz striker had previously endured a mini goal drought, failing to find the back of the net in a goalless draw against FC Talanta and a disappointing 4-1 loss to Shabana. Before that, he had put on a stellar performance, scoring a brace in a 3-1 victory over struggling Murang’a SEAL on February 19, 2025.
With Ogam’s status at his club uncertain, Shumah is keen to capitalize on upcoming fixtures to surpass him in the race for the Golden Boot. However, competition remains fierce, with FC Talanta’s Emmanuel Osoro and Bandari FC’s Mohamed Beja Nyamawi both sitting at 11 goals. KCB’s Francis Kahiro rounds out the top five with 10 goals.
As the FKF Premier League season heads into its crucial phase, all eyes will be on Shumah to see if he can maintain his scoring form and overtake Ogam at the summit. The race for the Golden Boot remains wide open, promising a thrilling end to the campaign.
