The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has launched an official investigation into goalkeeper Patrick Matasi following the circulation of online videos raising concerns about possible match manipulation. The probe, undertaken in collaboration with FIFA, CAF, and other relevant authorities, aims to determine the legitimacy of the allegations while safeguarding the integrity of Kenyan football.
The controversial footage, first shared by Kenyan football enthusiast and security expert Kiarie Mbugua, depicts Matasi seated in the right back seat of a stationary vehicle, engaged in a conversation with an off-camera individual. The video, secretly recorded from the left back seat, does not specify the date of the discussion but has since sparked widespread debate among fans and stakeholders.
Matasi, who currently plays for Kakamega Homeboyz FC following a recent stint at Kenya Police FC, is one of Kenya’s most recognized goalkeepers. His career spans multiple clubs, including Tusker FC, Posta Rangers, AFC Leopards, and Ethiopian giants Saint George. Despite his reputation, his performances in high-stakes matches have often been a subject of scrutiny, with some fans questioning his consistency.
In response to the circulating footage, FKF issued an official statement emphasizing its commitment to upholding football integrity.
“The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is aware of videos circulating online involving goalkeeper Patrick Matasi, raising concerns about possible match manipulation. FKF upholds the integrity of football and has launched an official investigation in collaboration with FIFA, CAF, and other relevant authorities.
