In a thrilling FKF Premier League clash on Sunday, Tusker FC ended their long-standing winless streak against Gor Mahia with a dramatic 2-1 victory at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Ryan Ogam was the hero of the day, scoring both goals to propel the Brewers to a six-point lead at the top of the table.

The match began on a cautious note, with both teams feeling each other out in a slow-paced first half. Tusker managed a couple of long-range attempts, but Gor Mahia goalkeeper Kevin Omondi comfortably dealt with them. The Brewers suffered an early blow in the 32nd minute when midfielder Mike Oduor was forced off with a concussion, replaced by Dennis Wanjala, who made an immediate impact.

Despite efforts by both teams, the first half ended goalless.

The second half brought more action, and it didn’t take long for Tusker to draw first blood. In the 50th minute, substitute Dennis Oguta delivered a sublime through ball to Ogam, who controlled it brilliantly before calmly slotting past Omondi.

Gor Mahia responded with urgency, making a triple substitution by introducing Enoch Morrison, Samuel Onyango, and Bryson Wangai. Their persistence paid off in the 69th minute when Austin Odhiambo curled a stunning 25-yard free kick into the back of the net, leveling the score and silencing the Tusker faithful.

However, Gor Mahia’s joy was short-lived. Odhiambo, instrumental in their equalizer, was forced off with an injury in the 79th minute, with Gedeon Bendeka replacing him.

As the match seemed destined for a draw, Tusker won a free kick deep into stoppage time. Dennis Wanjala floated a perfect cross into the box, and Ogam, rising above the defenders, headed in his second goal of the game—his 15th of the season—sending the stadium into a frenzy.

The victory not only gave Tusker a crucial three points but also ended their struggles against Gor Mahia, a team they had failed to beat in recent seasons. Tusker now sits comfortably at the top of the FKF Premier League table, three points clear of their closest rivals.

This result further solidifies Ryan Ogam’s reputation as one of the league’s most lethal forwards, as he continues his impressive run of form.
