Harambee Stars attacking midfielder Eric Johana Omondi put in a full shift for his Romanian club, FC UTA Arad, as they battled to a 1-1 draw against Farul Constanța in a tense Romanian Superliga clash on Monday, 20th January 2024.

UTA Arad took the lead in the 53rd minute when Argentine forward Agustín Vuletich found the back of the net. However, their advantage was short-lived as defender Cornel Râpă was sent off in the 59th minute, leaving the visitors with 10 men for the remainder of the game.

The hosts capitalized on the numerical advantage, leveling the scores in the 79th minute through Victor Dican. The tide shifted again in the 85th minute when Farul Constanța also went down to 10 men, setting the stage for a nervy conclusion. Despite end-to-end action in the closing stages, neither side managed to break the deadlock.

The result leaves UTA Arad 10th in the Romanian Superliga standings with 26 points from 22 matches. Johana, a key figure in Kenya’s national team, continued to showcase his quality on the European stage with a solid performance throughout the match.
